Icon XR1200 Build: Small Changes Up Front
![]()
Thought I would share a couple of small things I did to the XR over the past couple of weeks. There are a few more (one pretty major change), but these are what I’m going to show right now.
Make sure and check out the new gear over at the Icon 1000 website. The new stuff looks pretty good and I’ve had my eyes on those Elsinore boots since I saw them at the V-Twin Expo a couple of months ago…

First up are the grips… Had some crappy HD antique style grips on there before. Now I have some nice rubber Avon grips to hold on to while cruising around. Sure makes a world of difference!
Another change was a way to have my iPhone mounted to the bike on the bars. Picked up the Ram X-Grip and like it so far. One thing that attracted me to this mount over the others is that it allows me to keep my phone in the case. In the past I had to take it out every time and it was a pain in the ass for sure. Now, it’s just a drop in and it’s there.
Was a little worried at first about the X-Grip holding the phone, but the mount works great and no reason to worry about it falling off. Only issue I have found is you have to be careful where you but the arm as if not correct, it will be pressing the volume buttons the whole time.
